At our Ordinary Council Meeting on Tuesday 30 June, Councillors considered several key topics focused on Glen Eira's future, advocacy and the services our community relies on.
We adopted our 2026–27 Budget and Annual Action Plan, along with a refreshed 10 Year Financial Plan.
Together, these set a clear path for the year ahead and a financial plan for the next decade.. They protect the services people rely on, support investment in community infrastructure, and help us respond to rising costs and growing demand.
The budget reflects the approved one‑year variation to the State’s rate cap for 2026–27. This gives us greater capacity to maintain and improve community assets while continuing to deliver day‑to‑day services.
We adopted our Advocacy Priorities for 2026–27, which guide how we work with the Victorian and Australian Governments to secure better outcomes for Glen Eira.
These priorities reflect what our community has told us matters most — including safe and welcoming places, accessible transport, strong local facilities, climate action and support for vulnerable people.
They also focus on securing shared investment, so we are not relying on rates alone to fund projects that benefit our community.
We have updated our Leasing and Licensing Policy to improve how people access and use community spaces.
The updated policy provides clearer guidance for community groups, clubs and organisations using Council facilities, making the process more consistent, transparent and easier to navigate.
We also adopted a new Pricing Policy that sets out the principles we use to determine fees and charges across Council services.
The policy promotes a fair, consistent and transparent approach to pricing while balancing affordability for the community with the long-term financial sustainability needed to continue delivering quality services.
