COVID-19 update:

As per the Premier’s announcement on Sunday 2 August, we have been directed to move to Stage 4 restrictions. Find out more about how this will impact Council services in our COVID-19 services update.

Parks and playgrounds

How is COVID-19 impacting our parks?

All Glen Eira playgrounds, outdoor fitness equipment, sports facilities and the Bailey Reserve skate park in Bentleigh East have been closed until further notice. Residents can still utilise our grassed spaces across the municipality. Exercise is now limited to one hour per day and no more than five kilometres from your home. Group size is limited to two people — you and one other person. Always remember to wear a face covering and practise social distancing.

Lighting will be provided from 5pm to 7.30pm for night time exercise at the following locations:

  • Caulfield Park, Caulfield North and Princes Park, Caulfield South
  • EE Gunn Reserve, Ormond and Duncan Mackinnon Reserve, Murrumbeena
  • McKinnon Reserve, McKinnon and King George VI Memorial Reserve, Bentleigh East.

For cyclists, the velodrome at Packer Park in Carnegie remains open and if you are looking at somewhere to run, the athletics track at Duncan Mackinnon Reserve in Murrumbeena is available during daylight hours. For the continued good health of our community, and as a measure to help prevent the spread of COVID-19, we have prevented use of drinking fountains and barbecues, closed all sportsgrounds to all sports clubs and suspended bookings for our venues, parks and reserves until further notice.
