We are very concerned by the latest significant planning announcements by the Victorian Government.

Glen Eira City Council (Council), acting under clause 3 of schedule 10 to the Local Government Act 1989 (Act), proposes to discontinue the road abutting 333–345 Hawthorn Road and 2 Briggs Street, Caufield, shown as Lot 1 on the plan below, being part of the land in certificate of title volume 2343 folio 478 (Road).

The 2024 Glen Eira City Council election will be held on Saturday 26 October. The 2024 local government election period begins at 12pm today and will run until 6pm Saturday 26 October 2024. 

Our Governance Rules and Meeting Procedure Local Law are the cornerstones of Council’s governance framework — supporting decision-making at Council meetings in line with the Local Government Act 2020.

Council has resolved to shift its corporate emissions reduction pathway. This decision was made at the August 2024 Council meeting.

From September to October, a range of sports are on offer for children to come and try for free.

We have developed a Good Governance Framework, which is a valuable resource for the community, Councillors and Glen Eira staff to build a practical understanding of our governance processes. 

Notice is given under section 74(4) of the Local Government Act 2020 (Vic) (the Act) that, at its Council meeting on 3 September 2024, Glen Eira City Council (Council) resolved to make the Conduct at Meetings and Common Seal Local Law 2024 (Local Law).

Council met on 3 September 2024 and considered reports on 20 different matters. 

Following community engagement earlier this year, Council has endorsed amendments to the Canopy Tree Protection Local Law to protect one of the most vulnerable parts of the urban forest — trees on private property.

In a display of cross-council collaboration, we have signed the agreement for Bayside City Council to deliver in-home and social support services on behalf of Glen Eira.

In accordance with Rule 22 of the Glen Eira City Council Governance Rules (Section 60 of the Local Government Act 2020), a Special Council Meeting of Glen Eira City Council will be held at 7.30pm on Tuesday 20 August 2024.
