Firey reminder to keep batteries out of bins

Solo Resource Recovery trucks collect a large pile of uncontained household rubbish left on a suburban street.

Incorrectly disposed batteries and electronic waste caused two truck fires in Glen Eira in June, putting people, equipment and recycling efforts at risk. Help keep our community safe by recycling batteries and e-waste at the correct drop-off locations instead of placing them in your household bins.

Have your say on Melbourne Airport's draft Noise Sharing Plan

Melbourne Airport is expanding and developing a third runway. This addition will change flight operations and the way aircraft noise is experienced across Melbourne. People may notice changes in aircraft activity, including different flight path patterns and changes in aircraft noise compared with today.

Bentleigh Library and Youth Hub reopening on Monday 3 August

Bentleigh Library and Youth Hub will reopen to the community from 10am on Monday 3 August following the completion of essential maintenance works. All services will resume, including library services, youth services, customer service and e-waste recycling.

Service Centre early closure

Our Service Centre at Town Hall and Council Service Desk in Bentleigh will be closing at 1pm on Thursday 6 August and reopening as usual on Friday 7 August. This includes our phones and email. Our online self-serve and webchat options will remain available.

Victorian Government’s Stage 2 Activity Centre Plans finalised

New Victorian Government planning rules for activity centres in Glen Eira are now in place. The changes form part of the Government’s Train and Tram Zone Activity Centre Program, which is designed to support more housing in areas with good access to public transport, shops, services and jobs.

Proposed declaration of public highway

Glen Eira City Council (“Council”), pursuant to section 204(1) of the Local Government Act 1989 (“Act”) proposes to declare that part of the land shown hatched on the plan below, being part of the titles at 80, 82, 84, and 86-88 Patterson Road, Bentleigh Victoria and being part of the land contained in certificates of title volume 10338 folio 851, volume 8082 folio 762, volume 10380 folio 456, and volume 9706 folio 292, being a road in Council’s municipal district, to be a public highway for the purposes of the Act (“the proposal”).
