We acquired The Elsternwick Club site in 2023 and will take possession in 2027. This site will help fill a gap in open space in Glen Eira by becoming a new community area for everyone to enjoy.
The recently developed concept plans for the site have been shaped by more than 360 ideas and suggestions through community input and includes ideas from the Community Advisory Committee.
The draft design currently envisions an accessible, green and flexible public space that celebrates and protects the site’s heritage while creating a park setting unlike any other in Glen Eira.
Key features include:
The draft concept will be open to feedback from 26 September to 26 October 2025. Community input will continue to play a key role in shaping the future of the site.
In the meantime, The Elsternwick Club will continue operating on-site.
We’ve updated our Building Site Management Code of Practice to improve how building sites are run and reduce the impact on surrounding streets, drains and public spaces.
The Code now includes:
We reviewed the original 2009 Code in June to make sure it’s still doing its job. It’s now been updated to align with our Community Local Law 2019, which helps protect the liveability of Glen Eira.
St John Ambulance has proudly served the Glen Eira community since 1883. Its volunteers have been a familiar and vital presence at local events, providing first aid, delivering accredited training, and supporting emergency response efforts across Glen Eira and Victoria.
The Division welcomes all community members who want to get involved. Volunteers contribute in many ways — from providing first aid at events and emergencies, to supporting roles in communications and logistics, youth programs, school and kindergarten first aid education, and community transport.
Their volunteer base is diverse and inclusive, with members aged between 12 and 92. Some joined this year, while others have been serving since 1949. This mix of generations, skills and experiences strengthen the Division’s ability to serve with care, compassion and professionalism.
The local Division has called Birch St Hall home since 1956, after starting out at Caulfield Town Hall in 1930. We look forward to continuing to support this important community service into the future through our lease arrangement.
