Council met on 12 August 2025 and considered 6 reports. We explain some of the highlights from the meeting below.
Since February this year, we’ve heard from thousands of Glen Eira residents about what matters most to them for the future of Glen Eira. With their feedback in mind, we have developed the strategic plans that will shape the next four years and beyond. But we want to make sure we’ve got them right, so the plans will open to the community for their feedback before they are finalised.
We will be accepting community feedback until Wednesday 10 September. To find out more and get involved, visit Have your say — Our Place, Our Plan
We know many in our community want to take action. Their lived experience, ideas and passion for the environment can help us build a safer, healthier and more resilient Glen Eira — for today and for future generations.
The new Advisory Committees are an opportunity for community members to play a key role in the delivery of our Council Plan 2025–2029. They will help us by providing regular feedback and recommendations and contribute ideas to our projects, plans and services over the next four years bring us closer to our goals.
Each Committee will focus on one theme:
On each Committee, there will be four Councillors and up to 10 volunteer community members. The Innovation and Financial Sustainability Advisory Committee will also include two members with professional experience.
Committee members will learn about our goals and priorities, gain insight into the challenges and opportunities we face, and contribute well-informed advice and recommendations based on their lived experience in Glen Eira
Advisory Committees are an invaluable part of our community engagement, helping us maintain a community perspective. To learn more about the Committees or get involved, visit Have your say — Advisory Committees
Glen Eira has the lowest amount of open space per capita within any Victorian municipality. We’re always looking for innovative ideas and new opportunities to create and improve open space, so we've decided to explore an idea of creating temporary open space on privately owned land.
This investigation will help us decide if using private land for temporary parks is a good idea to help us fill open space gap areas in the short term. A report on the outcomes of these investigations will come back to Council in the future.
