These projects are funded as part of the Federal Government’s Local Roads and Community Infrastructure Program

These locations were selected as part of a broader initiative to enhance our local activity centres and bring improvements to residents and local businesses.

Seven centres have been selected for improvements, focusing on smaller centres located on collector roads rather than major arterial roads.

The streetscape upgrades are to be delivered across 3 stages.

Stage 1 — completed upgrades

The following upgrades were complete in August 2024 as part of Stage 1:

• Koornang Road and Truganini Road, Carnegie — minor upgrades to street furniture
• Centre Road and Thomas Street, Bentleigh — minor upgrades to street furniture.

Stage 2 – upcoming upgrades

Stage 2 upgrades will bring improvements to the following locations, with construction expected to be completed as per the timelines below.

• Corner Kooyong Road and Parnell Street, Caulfield South — works completed by 2024 and landscaping to be complete in early 2025
  Kooyong and Parnell – Engagement Plan (PDF, 2.8MB) 
• Corner Inkerman Road and Orrong Crescent, Caulfield North — works completed by 2024 and landscaping to be complete in early 2025

• Corner Bignell Road and Mathews Road, Bentleigh East — works and landscaping to be complete in early 2025

Stage 3 — future upgrades 2025

Stage 3 upgrades will begin in 2025 and are scheduled to be completed by June 2025.

• Koornang Road/Leila Road, Carnegie — footpath upgrades, landscaping and street furniture
• Mackie Road and Centre Road, Bentleigh East — footpath upgrades, landscaping and street furniture

These upgrades are designed to enhance public spaces, introduce landscaping, improve accessibility, and create a more inviting environment for our community.
