COVID-19 update:

As per the Premier’s announcement on Tuesday 7 July, we have been directed to move back to Stage 3 Stay at Home restrictions. Find out more about how this will impact Council services in our COVID-19 services update.

McKinnon Memorial Garden

Located on the corner of Wattle Grove and McKinnon Road, the large granite obelisk memorial in the centre of McKinnon Memorial Garden is dedicated to those residents who served in the First World War.

How is COVID-19 impacting our parks?

For the continued good health of our community and as a measure to help prevent the spread of COVID-19, in line with Government restrictions, we have:


  • closed our playgrounds, outdoor fitness equipment and skate park until further notice
  • restricted use of drinking fountains and barbecues
  • suspended bookings for our venues, parks, picnic shelters and sports facilities until further notice.

Some sports facilities remain available to support active recreation during lockdown, we encourage people to be active in our parks but otherwise Stay at Home. When you are out in parks, remember that you cannot gather with more than one person outside your household and must stay 1.5 metres apart from other users. You can use the:


  • athletics track at Duncan Mackinnon Reserve
  • cycling velodrome and lawn bowls at Packer Park (BYO bowls)
  • netball and basketball hoops and tennis hit up walls
  • golf birdie cages and cricket training nets
  • sportsgrounds and Pawfield Park (dog off-leash park in Caulfield)

Lighting will be provided from 5pm to 7.30pm for night time sport and recreation activity at the following locations:


  • Caulfield Park, Caulfield North and Princes Park, Caulfield South (Camden Ward)
  • EE Gunn Reserve, Ormond and Duncan Mackinnon Reserve, Murrumbeena (Rosstown Ward)
  • McKinnon Reserve, McKinnon and King George VI Memorial Reserve, Bentleigh East (Tucker Ward)

UPDATED 9 JULY 2020

The large granite obelisk located at McKinnon Memorial Gardens is dedicated to those residents who served in the Frist World War. The gardens feature a variety of low-level plantings and trees. Benches are located within the reserve allow time to sit and reflect.  Wide pathways provide access in and across the site.

McKinnon Memorial Garden is an on-leash area at all times.
