Council meeting snapshot for 17 March 2026

Glen Eira City Council met on Tuesday 17 March.

Council met on 17 March 2026 and considered seven reports. We explain some of the highlights from the meeting below.

Mid-year report adopted

The Mid-year Report (July to December 2025) gives our community an overview of the key achievements and challenges from the past six months.

It shows how we’re tracking against the priorities in the Council Plan 2025–2029 and brings together updates on major infrastructure projects, community programs, advocacy, engagement and our financial position — all in one easy-to-read summary.

Key highlights include:

  • $6.8 million invested in capital works across Glen Eira. Of the 110 projects scheduled, 94 are underway and six are complete.
  • 6,815 community engagement contributions through surveys and polls, 41,530 visits to the Have Your Say website, and 34 pop-up sessions.
  • Advocacy efforts focused on community issues helped to secure $4.3 million towards our priorities.

Advocacy priorities for the 2026 state election

We develop clear advocacy priorities ahead of every Victorian Government election. These priorities help us explain to candidates, political parties and Members of Parliament what commitments we are seeking, why they matter and the evidence behind them.

We’re calling on candidates in the upcoming election to partner with us to address the issues our community consistently tells us are most important:

  • Funding to help us turn the land we have acquired into high-quality open spaces and parks to meet the growing needs of our community
  • Stronger social connections by investing in local places, creating safer public spaces and supporting more inclusive sport and recreation opportunities.
  • Climate resilience and greener neighbourhoods, including cooler streets and support to transition to clean energy
  • Upgrading ageing facilities so they meet modern accessibility standards and promote gender equity.
  • Better local transport options, with improved connections, safer walking and riding routes and stronger support for active travel.
