Council met on 7 April and considered four reports.
We explain some of the highlights from the meeting below.
We submitted a formal response to the Victorian Government on the draft Activity Centres Program Stage 2 maps.
The submission highlights our concerns with the proposals outlined in the plans and the need to deliver well-planned housing close to transport and services, while reflecting feedback from the community on how this can be achieved in a way that respects local character and amenity.
Our submission urges the government to give greater consideration to building design, impacts on heritage areas and how growth is planned across neighbourhoods.
We approved $44,510 in funding for local not-for-profit organisations.
This includes support for groups such as Godfrey Street Community House, Melbourne Chinese Arts and Theatre, Maccabi Victoria and The Torch Project, helping strengthen community connection, inclusion and participation across Glen Eira.
We adopted a new Advocacy and External Grants Policy.
For the first time, advocacy and external funding are brought together under one framework, helping ensure our work is aligned to priorities, informed by evidence, and focused on delivering meaningful outcomes for the community.
