Located at the Orange Street end of the Reserve, the dog park has been designed to balance the needs of dog owners, nearby residents, sporting clubs and other park users.

Features of the new dog park include:

• fully fenced off leash areas to improve safety
• separate zones for different dog sizes and play styles
• seating and shade for comfort and accessibility
• drinking water and waste facilities to support responsible use Mackie Road Reserve is a popular local hub, featuring a sports oval, pavilion, shared paths and open lawns.

The addition of the dog park will create more opportunities for people and their pets to be active outdoors, meet others in their neighbourhood and enjoy the Reserve in new ways.

The project responds directly to community feedback calling for more safe, purpose-built off-leash spaces. More than 13,000 registered dogs live in our City highlighting the importance of providing places for pets and their owners to enjoy the outdoors close to home.

The dog park is also a key action in the Mackie Road Reserve Masterplan, supporting a long-term vision for the Reserve as a welcoming, multi-use community space.

The $400,000 project is being delivered with support from the Victorian Government’s New and Upgraded Dog Parks Program.

Works began in June, and the dog park is expected to open later this year in spring.
