Steeped in history, Greenmeadows Gardens is a favourite amongst locals to gather and enjoy weekend activates. With a large playground, open pace and an abundance of picnic tables, Greenmeadow Gardens has something for everyone. One of the marvels at Greenmeadows Gardens is the Red Gum located on the right of the entrance to the gardens from Green Street and Milburn Groove, which is estimated to be over 200 years old.
In the second half of the 19th century, Caulfield was a largely underdeveloped district of south-east Melbourne sprinkled with grand villas and mansion estates. In 1913 Caulfield City Council purchased the cow paddocks of Greenmeadows Estate and developed the land into a reserve. Winding paths were installed, and hundreds of trees and flowers were planted to create the serene space it is today.
