Council’s Public Transport Advocacy Plan

Public transport largely falls under the responsibility of the State Government, but Council can advocate on behalf of our community. The Public Transport Advocacy Plan sets out identified gaps and areas for improvement, and puts forward advocacy priorities for Council to help achieve better public transport across the municipality:

• Improved frequency of services across the whole public transport network
• Improved bus network for the areas of Glen Eira reliant on buses
• Improved safety for users, including on-board services as well as at stops and surrounds
• Improved pedestrian access to and from public transport stops
• Improved disability access to public transport stops and on-board services
• Real-time information displays at all train stations, and key bus and tram stops

Council’s Integrated Transport Strategy

The Integrated Transport Strategy is Council’s 15 year vision for transport in Glen Eira, which sets out high level transport goals in response to the challenges of a growing and changing community. Objectives set by the Integrated Transport Strategy include improving traffic flow, encouraging more sustainable transport options, management of parking, developing safe cycling and walking streets and advocating for better public transport infrastructure.
