World AIDS Day – Monday 1 December

This year’s World AIDS Day theme is ‘No one left behind’ - which promotes awareness, equity of care, and supportive environments for all.

World AIDS Day is held on 1 December each year to raise awareness of HIV and AIDS in our community and across the globe. In Australia, the theme ‘No one left behind’ encourages action to create supportive environments where access to prevention, testing, treatment, and quality of life is equitable for all.

We can all contribute to making our collective future better.

To show support for people living with HIV and honour those we have lost to AIDS-related illnesses, you can wear a red ribbon or attend an event including:

  • World AIDS Day Official Community Launch
    Monday 1 December, 9.30am-6pm
Hosted by Living Positive Victoria, hear from people with lived experience, panel discussions and keynote speakers.
You can watch via live stream on the event webpage or register to attend in-person.
  • World AIDS Day Memorial
    Monday 1 December 5pm-8pm
Hosted by Thorne Harbour Health at the Living Positive Centre, through stories, music, and ceremony the memorial will bring together community to reflect on the ongoing impact of HIV and to stand in solidarity with those most affected.
Find out more by visiting the event webpage, no registration is needed.

To learn more about prevention and testing, support options, and the experiences of people living with HIV - visit the HIV Still Matters website or the Living Positive Victoria website.

Together we can improve community awareness to combat stigma and discrimination around HIV and make prevention and health protection a reality for everyone.
