We encourage anyone who receives a payment request claiming to be from Council to check that it is legitimate before responding or making any payment.

When communicating with vendors and members of the community, Glen Eira City Council will:

• Only use official Council email addresses ending in @gleneira.vic.gov.au
• Never use Gmail, Hotmail or other personal email accounts for official correspondence
• Never ask for payment to a private bank account
• Never request payment via PayID

If you receive a suspicious message claiming to be from Council, do not make any payment or provide personal information. Instead, contact Council directly to verify the communication.

Anyone who believes they may have been targeted by a scam can report it to the Australian Government's Scamwatch[PB1] service - www.scamwatch.gov.au and, if money has been transferred, contact your bank immediately and report the matter to police.
