We’re upgrading Packer Park in Carnegie to make it more accessible and welcoming for our community.
We’re making improvements to Packer Park in Carnegie to ensure it continues to meet the needs of our growing community. Read on for more information.
The Packer Park velodrome was resurfaced in mid-2026, improving safety and ride quality for cyclists of all levels. Cracks were repaired, low spots were fixed, and a new acrylic surface and line markings were applied, helping ensure the velodrome remains fit for everyday use, now and into the future.
We built a new cycling pavilion to provide local cyclists with a modern and accessible space to ride, train and connect with others.
It was officially opened on 19 June by Glen Eira Mayor Cr Dr Simone Zmood and Councillors, the Hon Clare O’Neil MP Member for Hotham, Minister for Housing, Minister for Homelessness and Minister for Cities, CEO Lucy Roffey and members of the Carnegie Caulfield Cycling Club.
The pavilion sits alongside our recently resurfaced velodrome and includes a clubroom, storage, bike wash facility, kiosk and accessible toilets for the Carnegie Caulfield Cycling Club and the wider community. It has been designed to support people of all ages, abilities and backgrounds.
The pavilion was delivered by Glen Eira City Council, with funding support from the Australian Government through the Investing in Our Communities Program.
We’ve upgraded the cricket nets to better meet the needs of our community and local cricket clubs.
The space includes five cricket bays along with a multipurpose area designed for futsal and basketball. With increasing participation in cricket, particularly among juniors and women, these upgrades will provide a modern, safe, and accessible training space.
Currently, the multipurpose area is undergoing review for further improvements. During this period, the facility will operate exclusively as a cricket training space. This approach ensures a safe and accessible experience for all users while allowing Council to open the newly upgraded facility.

Future upgrades to the playground are subject to funding.

A new off-leash dog park is taking shape at Mackie Road Reserve in Bentleigh East, creating more opportunities for dogs and their owners to exercise, socialise and enjoy the outdoors close to home.
