Library of Things

A sustainable way to borrow a range of non-traditional library items.

Thinking about starting a new hobby or maybe digitising those old family slides? Library of Things can help you access the things you need and want without the long-term commitment.

Discover the new and exciting collection of home appliances and electronics, exclusively at Glen Eira Libraries with your library card.

The program helps to promote sustainability, reduce waste and encourage resource sharing within the community. It encourages circular economy by providing community members with access to popular products that may be needed for one-off jobs but are rarely used afterwards.

Important information:

  • To borrow, you must be a Glen Eira Libraries member aged 18 years or over.
  • Borrowers must review the Lending Conditions and sign a Waiver and Indemnity Agreement before borrowing.
  • Members may borrow up to two (2) Library of Things items at a time
  • Items can be reserved but not renewed
  • The loan period for all items is three (3) weeks
  • Items may be borrowed from and returned to any Glen Eira Libraries branch.
  • Library of Things items cannot be returned via the chute and must be handed to staff.
