Help shape the future of Staniland Grove in Elsternwick and Koornang Road in Carnegie

We’re continuing to improve our streets and public places through our Better Streets, Better Places program — and we want to hear from you.

The program is all about making our streets safer, more vibrant and easier to get around. It’s built on what you’ve told us matters most: practical upgrades, lively public spaces and a more connected Glen Eira. From new street furniture and footpaths to greenery and lighting, we’re delivering high-impact improvements across Glen Eira to support local business and create welcoming places for everyone.

Two projects are now open for community feedback — and your input will help shape the next steps.

Staniland Grove, Elsternwick (phase two)

Have your say: Monday 9 June–Sunday 29 June

Earlier this year, the community shared ideas for making Staniland Grove more inviting and pedestrian-friendly. We’ve listened and developed a draft concept design based on your feedback.

The proposed improvements include:

  • A smaller public toilet for better visibility and safety
  • More garden beds with native plants
  • A variety of seating options, including picnic tables
  • Shade from new canopy trees and upgraded shade structures
  • A colourful new community mural
  • A raised pedestrian crossing to improve safety

Koornang Road, Carnegie (phase one)

Have your say: Monday 9 June–Sunday 6 July

Koornang Road is the heart of Carnegie and a key focus for renewal under Better Streets, Better Places. This project supports local jobs, hospitality, retail and transport — and is guided by our Placemaking Strategy 2023–2027 and the Carnegie Structure Plan.

This is the first of two engagement phases. Now is the time to share your ideas and help shape the concept design.

We’re aiming to:

  • Enhance pedestrian access, safety and connectivity
  • Upgrade footpaths, seating, bins, bike hoops and other street furniture
  • Refresh landscaping to create a greener, more vibrant street
