Council celebrates remarkable Aboriginal Elder at Mallanbool Reserve

Glen Eira City Council in partnership with the Boon Wurrung Foundation, is presenting Louisa Briggs Day — a free, engaging, family-friendly event on Sunday 1 March to honour and celebrate the life and legacy of a respected Elder — Parbin-ata Louisa Briggs.

Louisa Briggs was a remarkable woman who ensured the continual connection to Boon Wurrung country — enabling her descendants to maintain and celebrate their rich heritage.

Community members are invited to join us at the Louisa Briggs Day at Mallanbool Reserve in Murrumbeena from 12.30pm to 3.30pm. There will be a smoking ceremony and Welcome to Country.

There will also be music by Alice Skye and Carissa Watt, face painting by Yarn Strong Sista, bush crafts with Wild Blak Arts, Indigenous storytelling and a barbecue lunch.

Everyone is welcome to attend.
