2026 Community Satisfaction Survey results

The latest Community Satisfaction Survey results provide insight into how residents feel about life in Glen Eira and the services we provide.

The latest Community Satisfaction Survey results highlight the many things residents value about living in Glen Eira, while also helping identify opportunities to continue improving services, facilities and community experiences.

Glen Eira residents continue to enjoy a high quality of life, with the 2026 Community Satisfaction Survey showing 91 per cent of respondents rate living in Glen Eira as ‘very good’ or ‘good’.

Conducted annually across councils in Victoria, the survey provides insight into how communities feel about council services, facilities, customer service and decision-making. This year’s results show Glen Eira continuing to perform strongly compared with other councils, while also highlighting areas where Council can continue building on existing strengths.

Glen Eira’s overall council performance improved, with an index score of 66 — a significant increase on last year. This result is now higher than both the metropolitan Melbourne and statewide averages and may indicate improving community confidence in the services Council delivers.

Several services continue to stand out as strengths. Recreational facilities rated highest overall, alongside art centres and libraries, waste management and the appearance of public areas. Customer service also remains a strong performer, with Glen Eira rated above both metro and state averages.

The survey also provides valuable insight into areas where residents continue to have high expectations and where there are opportunities for ongoing improvement. Planning-related areas, including planning for population growth and planning and building permits, rated lower than other services, reflecting growth pressures and broader Victorian Government planning reforms. While most residents feel safe in their local area during the day, perceptions of safety after dark were lower, particularly among women.

The Community Satisfaction Survey is one of several ways we listen to residents and uses feedback to help inform future planning, priorities and service delivery.
