We're seeking expressions of interest from local community representatives and experienced and appropriately qualified professionals as independent skills-based representatives, who would like to be part of the Glen Eira Leisure (GEL) Advisory Committee.

What does the GEL Advisory Committee do?
The GEL Advisory Committee is an independent advisory committee of the Council, established to enhance the performance of GEL and mitigate risks associated with its operational scale, particularly after the Carnegie Memorial Swimming Pool redevelopment.
The Committee will have specific roles and responsibilities, including:
- reviewing Quarterly Service Performance Reports
- advising on Annual Business Plans, Budgets, and Strategies
- ensuring compliance with audit requirements
- enhancing risk management and internal control practices.
The committee will meet four times per year, commencing 30 June 2025.
The Committee will consist of a minimum of three Councillors, three local community representatives and three industry skills-based representatives.

Local community representative role
To express your interest in the local community representative role, you will need to address the key selection criteria below:
- Level of involvement in the wider community with strong community networks and connections.
- Demonstrate the ability to participate constructively in an advisory role.
- Good knowledge and understanding of local issues relevant to the project.
- Willingness to contribute positively to meetings in a fair and unbiased manner.
Industry skills-based representative role
To express your interest in the industry skills-based representative role, you will need to address the key selection criteria below:
- Level of involvement in the wider community with strong community networks and connections.
- Familiarity with leisure facility operations and community programming.
- Knowledge and understanding of financial and performance reporting.
- Level of experience in risk management.
Consideration will also be given to specialist areas or expertise which will provide the committee with an appropriate skills mix.
