What does the GEL Advisory Committee do?

It’s an independent advisory committee that aims to enhance Glen Eira Leisure’s performance and reduce operational risks. They’ll join forces with Councillor representatives to shape the future of these facilities.

The Committee meetings will be held in-person quarterly, kicking off in late September.

As a member, you’ll have the opportunity to be part of a range of important work, including reviewing reports, advising on business plans and budgets and ensuring we’re compliant with risks and audits.

Glen Eira Leisure is made up of three sports and aquatic facilities — Glen Eira Sports and Aquatic Centre (GESAC), Carnegie Memorial Swimming Pool (CMSP) and Caulfield Recreation Centre.

The Committee will have specific roles and responsibilities, including:

  • reviewing Quarterly Service Performance Reports
  • advising on Annual Business Plans, Budgets, and Strategies
  • ensuring compliance with audit requirements
  • enhancing risk management and internal control practices.

All of this work helps to make sure that Glen Eira Leisure continues to be a safe and exciting place for visitors and community members to enjoy now and into the future.

This is a great way to contribute to your community and be a part of helping our facilities thrive.

The Committee will consist of a minimum of three Councillors, three local community representatives and three industry skills-based representatives.
