As part of our commitment to maintaining high-quality open spaces and sporting facilities, we’re upgrading the sportsground lighting at Lord Reserve in Carnegie.

The project includes the installation of new lighting poles and 100 LUX LED sports lighting across the Reserve, helping to improve visibility, safety and access for community sport.

Soccer Pitches 2 and 3 works in progress

More lighting upgrades for Soccer Pitches 2 and 3 are underway and are expected to be completed by September 2026.

We’re installing new light poles and 100 LUX LED sports lighting around the Pitches to improve visibility after dark and support the local sports clubs that call the Reserve home.

These works are being delivered by Glen Eira City Council with support from the Victorian Government.

Soccer Pitch 1 works complete

The first stage of the project has now been completed, with four new lighting poles and 100 LUX LED sports lighting installed around Soccer Pitch 1.

The upgraded lighting was officially opened on 15 July 2026 by Mayor Cr Dr Simone Zmood, Deputy Mayor Cr Li Zhang, Councillors, Steve Dimopoulos MP, Member for Oakleigh and Minister for Economic Growth and Sport and Major Events, and representatives from Glen Eira Football Club.

The new lighting:

• creates more opportunities for evening training and competition
• supports local sporting clubs as participation continues to grow
• improves visibility and safety for players, officials and spectators
• provides greater flexibility for people of all ages and abilities to participate in sport and recreation
• supports more efficient use of existing sporting facilities.

Project benefits:

Good sports facilities help people stay active and connected. The new lighting makes it easier and safer for local clubs, players and families to use Lord Reserve in the evenings, while supporting more opportunities for women and girls to take part in local sport.

The new lights use energy-efficient LED lighting technology, helping reduce energy consumption while providing reliable, high-quality lighting for users of the Reserve.

This project was delivered by Glen Eira City Council with support from the Victorian Government's Community Sport and Recreation Grants program.
