King George VI Memorial Reserve sportsground lighting upgrade

We’re upgrading the sportsground lighting at King George VI Memorial Reserve in Bentleigh East to improve accessibility, safety and usability for players, clubs and the wider community.

The upgrade is part of our 2025/26 Capital Works Program, with funding support from the Victorian Government’s Community Sport and Recreation Projects Fund

What we’re doing

As part of the upgrade, we’re improving lighting on both ovals at the reserve by:

  • Installing two new light poles with LED lights between Ovals 1 and 2
  • Upgrading two existing light poles on the western side of Oval 1 with new LED lights
  • Upgrading two existing light poles on the eastern side of Oval 2 with new LED lights

These improvements will help the Reserve better support training, competition and growing participation in local sport.

Why we’re doing it

We’re upgrading the lighting to replace ageing infrastructure and ensure the reserve meets current standards, while creating a safer, more functional environment for evening use and year-round activity.

The new energy efficient LED lighting will:

  • Improve visibility and safety
  • Reduce energy use and ongoing maintenance costs
  • Support more sustainable, resilient community infrastructure

Project timing

Works are scheduled to begin on 30 March 2026, with completion anticipated by mid‑June.
