Summer 2023 Teen School Holiday Program

Activities are open to young people aged 12 to up to 18 years old. All participants must Live, Work or Study in the City of Glen Eira. Bookings open at 9am Monday 5 December and close 5pm Friday 23 December. 

Sports trivia and soccer

Tuesday 10 January

This day is for sports heads and trivia competitors. Step right up! We are putting on a sports trivia competition held at the new Bentleigh Library and Youth Hub with prizes up for grabs. followed by a game of soccer at Higgins Reserve. Bring your A-game!

Time: 9am to 2pm
What to bring: BYO Lunch or money for lunch, active clothes and shoes, hat, water bottle
Drop off/Pick up: Bentleigh Library and Youth Hub, 161 Jasper Road, Bentleigh
Cost: $5 or free for Health Care Card holders


Movies at Southland and games

Wednesday 11 January

Back by popular demand is the classic movie screening at Southland Village Cinemas. We will then head back to the new Bentleigh Library and Youth hub, for an afternoon of board and console games including Switch, PS4 and Xbox, and a game or two of table tennis.

Time: 12pm to 5pm
What to bring: Myki for the train, BYO movie snacks or money for the snack bar (Village Snack bar), good walking shoes, water bottle, and hat and backpack.

Eureka Skydeck, ACMI Exhibition, Frisbee and Birrarung Wilam Walk @ Melbourne City

Thursday 12 January

Melbourne is operating once again — and we are celebrating this today by taking these holidays to the next level. A morning tour of the Eureka Skydeck will surely wake you up while you embrace a full view of our beautiful city. ACMI is opening their doors to us for a workshop and exhibition “Story of the Moving Image” before playing frisbee games and BYO lunch in the park. To finish off, Koorie Heritage Trust will take the group for a blissful spring river camp walk down the Birrarung to remember the cultural importance of our wonderful city of Melbourne (Narrm).

Bentleigh Hunt

Tuesday 17 January

Think you know Centre Road? Well think again! In your team, we challenge you to solve the riddles, find the clues, and complete the tasks to make your way around Bentleigh. This activity is keeping it local, and celebrating the wonderful area around us, including the new Bentleigh Library and Youth Hub facility.

Time: 12p to 5pm

Proud Day out in St Kilda

Wednesday 18 January

We have booked a special day for our young rainbow members and allies these holidays! We will travel by community bus to St Kilda, to tour the Victorian Pride Centre, the first purpose-built centre for Australia's LGBTIQ+ communities. Learn about the buildings design, explore the Pride Gallery, and find out about the resident organisations inside the Pride centre.

Following the tour, we will head down to the beach for a game of cricket and frisbee and some lunch, finishing the day with photos on the St Kilda Pier.

What to bring: BYO Lunch or money for lunch, hat, water bottle, comfy clothes, and backpack.

TwistED Science

Thursday 19 January

Have you ever been to TwistED Science? Now is your chance! TwistED Science thrive’s on curiosity, how things come to be, how they work, move, and feel! Through interaction with the exhibits, you can explore all the fun of science through play.

We will be catching a train then bus to TwistED Science to explore the TwistED Science Playzone for the hands-on activities, before returning to Bentleigh Library and Youth Hub.

Time: 9am to 2pm
What to bring: Myki for train and bus, BYO lunch or lunch money, hat, water bottle, active clothes, and backpack.
