Disposable cutlery of any kind should go in the red general waste bin (including plastic, bamboo or compostable single-use cutlery).
Plastic or bamboo cutlery
- Bamboo cutlery: put in red general waste bin, not accepted in green bin.
- Compostable or biodegradable cutlery: put in red general waste bin, not accepted in green bin.
- Plastic cutlery: put in red general waste bin, not accepted in yellow bin.
Tip: Remember to use reusable, washable items instead of disposable wherever possible.
Please note: degradable, biodegradable, compostable or bioplastics cannot be recycled. These plastics have been specifically manufactured to break down in the general waste stream. They are not recyclable as they start to degrade before they’re processed.
