Coffee cups and coffee cup lids can be dropped off at a Simply Cups collection point for downcycling.

Otherwise, all coffee cups and coffee cup lids should be disposed of in the red general waste bin. 

Takeaway cups, including those marketed as 'compostable' or 'biodegradable', are lined with plastic to make them waterproof. This prevents them from being recycled effectively. 'Compostable' coffee cups aren't accepted in the green bin, nor can they be composted at home. 

Reuse tip: Avoid disposable cups by dining in or enjoying your coffee in a cup. Nearly all cafes accept keep cups and some even offer a discount. To find a local cafe that offers a discount, check out Responsible Cafes.
