Business Excellence Awards

In a celebration of achievements in business performance, innovation, and social responsibility, the "Business of the Year" award recognises Glen Eira businesses that have excelled in key areas of business. Winners from each of seven categories were shortlisted as contenders for the prestigious Glen Eira Business of the Year Award.

“It feels special to be present at the beginning of what (we hope and believe) will become an annual tradition for Glen Eira City Council. This is our first Business Excellence Awards event, and we at Council are so delighted at the response we received when we put out the call for submissions” the Mayor Councillor Jim McGee said. 

“We had 56 businesses raise their hands for recognition across 112 submissions. Those are outstanding numbers” he said.

The inaugural Business Excellence Awards, incorporated the Glen Eira Five-Star Safe Food Awards, which has a 20-year history of recognising food production businesses that exemplify the highest standards of food safety in Glen Eira. 

Both programs, celebrated together, shine the spotlight on businesses in our neighbourhoods that do something special and extraordinary, and go the extra distance to help make Glen Eira a great place to live and do business. 

The judging panel meticulously evaluated the candidates against a comprehensive set of criteria to identify businesses that have excelled in several vital aspects. The judging criteria include:

• Products/Services
• Management Practices
• Customer Service (if retail or in-service industry) or Manufacturing Practices (if manufacturing)
• Diversity
• Environmental Sustainability Practices
• Citizenship
• Significant Achievements
• Future Plans

Businesses could nominate in multiple categories:

• Emerging Business
• Professions and Service Business
• Retail, Wholesale and Distribution Business Category
• Healthcare and Social Services Business Category
• Environmentally Sustainable Business
• Small Business of the Year

From the category winners, one exceptional business is crowned the Glen Eira Business of the Year, symbolizing their excellence across all judging criteria. Each category winner will receive a range of rewards, including a crystal trophy engraved with the category, year, and business name, a framed certificate, a window decal showcasing the category and year of their victory, an exclusive email signature logo, a feature in GE News, and promotion through GE business e-news.
