Statement of significance:

This tree fulfils the criteria of:

  • Outstanding Size (girth height spread)
  • Aesthetic value

This is a particularly large and healthy example of an English Oak to be found on private land in the area. It has a large domed, spreading canopy with significant trunk girth and is over 60 years old – a significant age for any European tree within Glen Eira.

The well-formed canopy provides significant shading that reaches out over 4 private yards and makes a substantial contribution to the local landscape and neighbourhood character.

The loss of this tree would represent a significant loss of amenity for the entire community
