The numerous Canary Island Date Palms are a major feature throughout the western end of the historic Caulfield Park. There are a total of 29 Palms in the park with 28 of these already large and mature specimens. Of these 28, 7 Palms are notably taller and therefore older, which makes them more significant and eligible for inclusion in the Classified Tree Register.

The 7 oldest Palms all make a major contribution to the local landscape and provide substantial amenity and visual appeal to park users. They are all large and established trees of outstanding size, ranging in height from 18-22m, making them also particularly old specimens estimated to be over 80 years old. By contrast, the other 21 mature Palms within the park are all less than 16m tall.

Due to their size and age, these Date Palms are all considered to be outstanding examples of the species to
be found across the entire municipality.
