It is prominently located within a large open lawn as the major feature at the western end of Princes Park, near to Hawthorn Road.

It is a particularly old example and can be seen as an already large tree in old aerial photographs of Melbourne taken in 1945.

It is the largest and most outstanding example of the species in Glen Eira and surrounding region that is striking in the landscape and makes a major contribution to the neighbourhood character. The tree provides significant amenity to park users and is comparable to other significant trees of this species listed at the state level.
