Statement of significance:

This tree fulfils the criteria of:

  • Horticultural or genetic value
  • Curious growth habit

This mature Hybrid Strawberry Tree is potentially an important source of propagating stock due to its horticultural value as an uncommon hybrid specimen.

A relatively slow growing species, this tree has an old structural fault in the stem from a previous failure that has stabilised and resulted in a curious and abnormal growth form that is of significant visual interest.

Although not possessing significant visual presence from the public realm, this mature tree is a prominent feature in the centre of the rear private open space of the property which is already located within a Neighbourhood Character Overlay area. This Overlay protects established canopy trees for the amenity and aesthetic benefit they provide.
