This iconic and prominent tree is uniquely located in the front yard of the historic Heatherbrae Homestead, close to Caulfield Racecourse and is visible from the surrounding streets and parklands.

It is a particularly old example and can be seen as an already large tree in old aerial photographs of Melbourne taken in 1945.

The tree has a very large trunk girth with an impressive canopy that is both tall and wide spreading. The tree is striking in the landscape, making a major contribution to the neighbourhood character and providing significant amenity to the community.

It is the largest and most outstanding example of the species in Glen Eira and also provides a significant food resource to native wildlife.
