Want to paint a signal box?

Would you like to be commissioned to paint your artwork onto a traffic signal box?

Signal Box 2020 is the next stage in Glen Eira City Council’s ongoing community arts program. This is another opportunity for artists, community groups and schools in the City of Glen Eira to have their works join the 24 street cabinet artworks that were beautifully painted in 2018. The project will result in a further 20 original artworks on traffic signal boxes, brightening the streets of Glen Eira, fostering cultural expression and celebrating local areas.

Designs will be assessed by Council, VicRoads and Urban Smart Projects, with one artwork to be chosen for each location.

Anyone who lives, works or studies within the City of Glen Eira (except Glen Eira City Council employees) can submit a design.

Successful artists will be provided with all paint and safety equipment and paid $400 at the completion of their artwork. Artists under 18 years will be required to be supervised by a parent, teacher or guardian.

Designs must be submitted by 5pm Friday 1 November.

Painting dates will be negotiated with each approved artist within the painting period from December 2019 through to end of March 2020.

Painting needs to be undertaken within two weeks and three weekends (weather permitting).
