Victorian State election priorities

With the State election approaching in November, we are making sure our community’s priorities are front and centre.

The Victorian State election is a key opportunity to advocate for what we know is important to our community — safer streets, more green spaces, thriving shopping strips, inclusive facilities, and stronger support for people doing it tough.

In the Victorian Parliament, Glen Eira is represented by the electorates of Bentleigh, Caulfield and Oakleigh, and the Southern Metropolitan Region in the Legislative Council.

We are committed to working constructively with all candidates — no matter their political party — to ensure Glen Eira’s priorities are understood.

Here are some of our key priorities for each electorate:

Oakleigh

  • Delivering the new Ames Avenue neighbourhood park in Carnegie.
  • Revitalising Koornang Road in Carnegie to create a safer and greener activity centre.
  • Support to plan for future upgrades to Carnegie Library and Community Centre.
  • Improving pedestrian safety near Murrumbeena Primary School.
  • Delivering new female friendly community sport facilities.

Caulfield

  • Transforming the former Elsternwick Club site into much needed public open space.
  • Funding to plan the Elsternwick Community Hub, which will combine early childhood, family support and wellbeing programs in one place.
  • Upgrades to the Glen Huntly Park Pavilion to support inclusive sport.
  • Completion of the Elsternwick Green Link to deliver safer walking and cycling connections.

Bentleigh

  • Delivering the Porter Road neighbourhood park in Bentleigh.
  • Progressing the next stage of the Mackie Road Reserve masterplan in Bentleigh East.
  • Upgrading the H.R. Stephens Pavilion at Bailey Reserve in Bentleigh East.
  • Improving streetscapes along Centre Road in Bentleigh.
