Shaping Elsternwick’s new open space

We’re excited to share the next step in bringing your vision for The Elsternwick Club site to life.

The draft design is ready — and we want your feedback to help shape the final design of this future open space.

Earlier this year, more than 360 ideas and suggestions were shared during the first engagement phase.

You told us you wanted:

  • A peaceful and flexible recreation space — more about relaxing than organised sport
  • Shaded areas with trees or structures
  • Social gathering spaces where people can connect
  • Flexible green lawns for informal play and picnics

What’s in the draft design

We’ve taken your feedback and reflected it in the draft design. Key features include:

  • Spaces for all ages and needs — from quiet zones to family-friendly lawns
  • Accessible pathways, seating and gathering areas
  • Shaded areas, native plants and biodiversity features
  • A safe, inclusive and sustainable space that reflects Elsternwick’s heritage

What about the heritage building?

You also suggested creative uses for the historic building — from a community hub to a food and beverage venue with the ability for the building to incorporate art and history.

This second engagement phase focuses only on the outdoor space. Planning for the building will take place separately.

Have your say

Your insights will help ensure this future open space reflects the community’s needs and values.

To view the draft design and share your feedback from Friday 26 September to Sunday 26 October, visit: Have Your Say Elsternwick Club.
