Multinet Gas is currently undertaking gas main renewal works in the Carnegie Activity Centre, including along Koornang Road in Carnegie.
Multinet is upgrading underground gas infrastructure to maintain safety and reliability of the gas network. During this type of work, strong odours can sometimes be present. The smell comes from gas odorants used for safety and leak detection and can have an ammonia‑like smell. These odours are expected during gas infrastructure works.
Works are underway throughout the Carnegie Activity Centre, including Koornang Road, and are expected to be completed by the end of March.
Once the gas works are complete, we will undertake a full deep clean of the Activity Centre, including pressure washing of footpaths. This is planned to be completed before Easter, subject to weather and operational conditions.
These works are being carried out by Multinet Gas. For details about the works, visit their website: https://www.multinetgas.com.au/works-in-your-area
