Lighting up Lord Reserve

We’re creating more opportunities for local clubs, players and families to train, play and connect after dark.

New sportsground lighting at Lord Reserve in Carnegie was officially opened on 15 July 2026, celebrating an important upgrade that will support local sport for years to come.

Mayor Cr Dr Simone Zmood, Deputy Mayor Cr Li Zhang and fellow Councillors joined Steve Dimopoulos MP, Member for Oakleigh and Minister for Economic Growth and Sport and Major Events, and representatives from Glen Eira Football Club to mark the occasion.

The project delivered four new lighting poles and 100 LUX LED sports lighting around Soccer Pitch 1, improving visibility, safety and access for local players.

The new lighting will create more opportunities for local clubs and residents to train, play and connect after dark — and more people to take part in the sports they love.

The energy-efficient LED lighting will also reduce energy consumption while supporting a more sustainable future for our community.

Upgrades like this help ensure our sporting facilities continue to meet the needs of our growing community. By providing safe, accessible and high-quality places to play sport, we're helping more people stay active, spend time outdoors and connect with others.

The project was delivered by Glen Eira City Council with support from the Victorian Government's Community Sport and Recreation Grants program.

This is the first stage of lighting upgrades at Lord Reserve. More lighting works for Soccer Pitches 2 and 3 are currently underway and are expected to be completed in the coming months. To learn more about the project, visit the Lord Reserve lighting upgrade project page.
