The Liberal Party has announced a funding commitment of $10 million to help Glen Eira City Council complete the $52 million redevelopment of Carnegie Memorial Swimming Pool if a Liberal Government is re-elected in May.
At an announcement today Labor candidate for Higgins Dr Michelle Ananda-Rajah and Shadow Minister for Infrastructure, Transport and Regional Development Catherine King MP said an Albanese Labor Government would support Council to deliver the social, environmental and economic benefits that the pool will provide to the community.
Glen Eira Mayor Cr Jim Magee said Council is committed to advocating for projects which are important to our community and deliver measurable results for Glen Eira residents.
“Council is fully committed to redeveloping the Carnegie Swim Centre as an iconic local asset and this financial support will help make the new facility a reality,” he said.
“This key project will deliver significant benefits to our community for years to come. The project itself is likely to generate more than 100 jobs during the construction phase with 30 new ongoing jobs once the facility is open.”
Once completed, the new year-round aquatic and leisure facility will be one of the most environmentally friendly and sustainable pools in the world.
