Yesterday the Ombudsman tabled a report in Parliament — Investigation into three councils’ outsourcing of parking fine internal reviews. The report makes three recommendations for reform to the State Government and two recommendations for the three councils subject to the review — including Glen Eira City Council.
On Tuesday 16 December 2015 Councillors in a unanimous decision voted to appoint Ms Rebecca McKenzie as the new Chief Executive Officer of Glen Eira City Council for a four year term commencing on Monday 8 February 2016.
Ms McKenzie is currently the CEO at Mitchell Shire Council and has had wide experience in the Local Government sector in Victoria and abroad.
Rebecca is very much looking forward to her new role.
"I am delighted to be joining the City of Glen Eira as their CEO in the New Year," Ms McKenzie said. "Andrew’s shoes will be big ones to fill, but I intend to build on the strong performance that has been his legacy, while working closely with Council and community to respond to the significant change in the Local Government sector, not the least rate capping."
Mayor Neil Pilling announced the appointment.
"Along with all my fellow Councillors, I believe that we are very fortunate to have secured the services of Rebecca and all of us in the Council and community can look forward with a sense of assurance and confidence to 2016 and the years ahead."
