Mayor Cr Dr Simone Zmood said the change would help ensure more EV owners can access chargers when they need them. 

"As more residents switch to electric vehicles, it's important that our charging stations are available to the people who need them," Cr Zmood said. 

"A user-pays approach helps encourage drivers to use charging bays responsibly and comply with the advertised parking time limits” 

"We've seen times when vehicles remain plugged in, or parked in charging bays, longer than the advertised parking time limits. Introducing charging and overstay fees will help improve access so more EV owners can use the network." 

The following fees will apply from 1 October: 

Standard charging: $0.25 per kWh 

Overstay fee: $1 per minute after the advertised parking time limit 

Revenues raised from charging fees will contribute to our overall financial resources and support the delivery of our services and priorities.  

EV drivers can use the Chargefox app to locate chargers, view current pricing and start charging sessions.
