Centre Road closure

Centre Road will be closed in both directions between East Boundary Road and Moorabbin Hospital from 2am to 5pm Sunday 6 September (weather permitting).

The new East Bentleigh Ambulance Branch is almost complete.

Before paramedics can begin operating from the new branch, essential traffic signals must be installed on Centre Road to ensure ambulances can safely exit the site when responding to emergencies.

What to expect

  • Centre Road closed in both directions between East Boundary Road and Moorabbin Hospital. Detours will be in place to guide traffic around the works via North Road and South Road. This is to avoid congestion on residential streets.
  • Increased levels of noise and lights from heavy machinery and power tools (for the safety of workers on site, reversing beepers are required on all machinery).
  • On-street parking restrictions.
  • Local access only to properties on Centre Road.
  • Footpaths may be closed on one side of the road; traffic management will be in place to safely guide pedestrians.
  • Access to Moorabbin Hospital will be maintained at all times.
  • Traffic management will be in place to ensure the safety of pedestrians, cyclists, and road users.

Once the traffic lights are installed, additional single lane closures may be required over the coming months. Traffic management will be in place.

The new Ambulance Branch is being completed by the Victorian Health Building Authority with the traffic signals work undertaken by Utility Solutions Group.

This closure has been authorised by the Department of Transport and Planning.
