2024 Glen Eira City Council election

We’ve released new information about the upcoming local government elections being held on 26 October 2024.

Local council elections are held every four years and councillors provide an invaluable link between the community and Council.

Along with representing their ward and advocating on a wide range of issues, they set the City’s strategic direction, establish and guide policies, set service delivery standards, and monitor performance.

To help prepare our community, we’ve published information about:

  • Council elections: this includes information about the election, why we have it, how it works, key dates and relevant information about voting.
  • Enrolling to vote: this includes information about the election process, eligibility to enrol to vote and relevant enrolment forms and application processes.
  • Information for candidates: this includes information for prospective Councillor candidates. There’s information about the role of Councillors and links to relevant information and information sessions and other resources.

All Victorian local government elections in 2024 will be conducted by postal vote. Ballot packs with instructions for postal voting will be distributed via post to every person enrolled to vote in Glen Eira by the Victorian Electoral Commission (VEC) in early October.

From October 2024 there will be nine Council wards, each made up of one Councillor. The nine councillors are elected for four-year terms on 26 October 2024, and they elect the Mayor annually.

Note: These pages will continue to be updated throughout the coming months with new and relevant information.
