Pedestrian crossing upgrades, Elsternwick

We are going to build new threshold crossings in Elsternwick. These are slightly raised sections of the road at pedestrian crossing points, designed to make crossing safer and more accessible, and encourage drivers to slow down.

What’s happening?

We are building the threshold crossings at the intersection of Glen Huntly Road and McCombie Street, Elsternwick.

When is it happening?

Works are due to start on Monday 10 August and will be completed by the end of August, weather permitting.

What are the impacts?

  • Works will take place between 7am–4pm weekdays and some Saturdays between 9am and 1pm, if needed.
  • There might be some noise and dust from the site, but the contractors will do their best to minimise it.
  • To safely complete the works, there will be a temporary full road closure at McCombie Street near the construction sites. Detours and signage will be in place.
  • Local access for residents and traders will be maintained via detours
  • Temporary safety barriers will be installed around the work sites
