The Glen Eira City Council election will be held this October.
Council election information
Local council general elections are held every four years and councillors make decisions on a range of important local issues and services, including:
- maternal health and immunisations
- sporting and recreation facilities
- libraries and community centres
- animal registrations
- rubbish and recycling
- planning and building regulations
- local roads and footpaths.
All Victorian local government elections in 2024 will be conducted by postal vote. Ballot packs with instructions for postal voting will be distributed via post to every person enrolled to vote in Glen Eira by the Victorian Electoral Commission (VEC) in early October.
We strongly encourage all eligible voters to vote in October. Voting is compulsory for State-enrolled Australian citizens aged 18 years or older, and you may be fined if you don’t vote. Ballot packs with instructions for postal voting will be distributed via post to every enrolled person in Glen Eira in early October.
Electoral structure
A new electoral structure and new ward boundaries will take effect from the October 2024 local government election.
The Victorian Government’s electoral changes moved Glen Eira City Council from the existing three wards, each represented by three Councillors, to nine wards, each represented by a single Councillor.
The nine new wards — instead of being divided from existing wards — will be divided along main roads and suburb boundaries. The wards are named Bambra, Booran, Caulfield Park, Jasper, Mallanbool, Moorleigh, Murrumbeena, Orrong and Wattle Grove.
For more information about the new wards, visit our ward boundaries map.
