Become a Glen Eira Sustainability Champion
If you live, work or study in Glen Eira, this free 10-week sustainability-focused program offers training and support to help you deliver local climate action and sustainability projects.
During the program, you will:
- Connect with other local people who are passionate about the environment and their community.
- Be part of a growing movement of local people taking climate and sustainability action in Glen Eira.
- Build your capacity to develop project ideas into real world action.
- Gain an understanding of the climate and sustainability challenges in our local environment.
- Develop knowledge and skills around effective behaviour change, leadership and advocacy.
In 2024, our champions started up repair cafes, community pantries and even air quality monitoring projects. Equipped with new skills, support and inspiration, you too can create real change in our community.
The 2025 program will run on Wednesday evenings from 27 August until 10 December (every week excluding school holidays). The last session will be a graduation to celebrate your achievements.

What is the Sustainability Champions program?
This a free 10-week program run by Council for local people passionate about the environment, to help turn their ideas into action. Participants receive training and support to deliver local projects which address climate and sustainability challenges. Throughout the program, they will:
- develop an understanding of local challenges
- gain knowledge and skills around behaviour change, leadership and advocacy
- and connect with a growing movement of local people taking climate action.
When is the program running?
In 2025, the program will commence on Wednesday 27 August. There will be ten sessions on every Wednesday, excluding school holidays. The final session will be a graduation on Wednesday 10 December.

Who is eligible for the program?
Anyone who lives, works or studies in Glen Eira and is passionate about the sustainability can register.
Why does Council run this program?
Responding to climate change is a global challenge that needs everyone to work together. This program aims to educate and empower our community to take local climate action. It helps us deliver on several actions under our Climate Emergency Response Strategy, Circular Economy Plan and Urban Forest Strategy.
