Waste Champions Program for shared bins

Do you live at a property where you share Council bins with other households? Are you interested in sustainability and helping to improve recycling in your shared bins? You may like to take part in our Waste Champions Program!

We know there’s plenty of Waste Champions in Glen Eira who are passionate about reducing waste, recycling and sustainability – and for those using shared bins there can be some added challenges to managing your household waste.

Through this program, we want to support you and your neighbours to reduce waste and recycle more! We also want to hear about your experiences and ideas so we can learn what else we can do to help people who use shared bins.

What's involved?

As a Waste Champion, you’ll be able to inform how we can better support people using shared bins. You’ll have the opportunity to provide feedback on what is going well and what is a challenge at your residence — helping us understand how we can improve the experience of using shared bins for everyone. The feedback survey schedule is:

  • Initial feedback survey in October 2021
  • Second feedback survey in February 2022
  • Final feedback survey in June 2022

We’ll provide your residence with recycling and waste signs and large poster-sized bin stickers to help everyone know what goes in your red, yellow and green bins.

We’ll also check that you have enough bins and get any outdated bin lids replaced – no more bin colour confusion!

How do I become a Waste Champion?

Interested? Sign up to be a Champion now! Simply sign up below and you’ll be all set to be an official Waste Champion.

What’s next? We’ll get in touch with you when it’s time to get your initial feedback and begin getting your property set up with your recycling and waste education signage.
