Help with breastfeeding

Do you need advice or support with breastfeeding? Our free service allows you come in and speak to a qualified lactation consultant. You also have the option of making an appointment or coming to a weekly drop-in session.

Our Breastfeeding Service is staffed by an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant.

The lactation consultant can provide advice and support on breastfeeding issues including:

  • positioning and attachment advice
  • management of sore nipples
  • assessment of milk supply
  • breast refusal
  • feeding support for twins or triplets
  • mastitis
  • breast and nipple thrush
  • any other breastfeeding concerns.

Drop-in sessions

Come to a weekly drop-in session with our lactation consultant. There's no need to make a booking.

Helplines

National Breastfeeding Helpline

The Australian Breastfeeding Association (ABA) runs the National Breastfeeding Helpline, which is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. You’ll speak to trained counsellors who answer calls in their own homes, via a roster system.

Maternal and Child Health Line

This free and confidential service is available to parents and families with children from birth to starting school age. It’s available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Qualified maternal and child health nurses can give you information and support on issues like child health, nutrition, breastfeeding, maternal and family health and parenting.
