National Carers week — 16–22 October

National Carers Week is a time to recognise and celebrate the outstanding contribution unpaid carers make to friends, family and neighbours — our local community.

Events and activities

We recognise carers as people who provide unpaid personal care, support and assistance to another individual who needs support due to disability, a medical condition, including terminal or chronic illness, mental illness or who is frail and aged. Anyone at any time can become a carer.

There are a variety of events and activities taking place throughout National Carers Week. Glen Eira City Council will also be recognising and thanking carers in Glen Eira or those who care for someone in Glen Eira through the following activities.

Pathway for Carers Social Connect Group

Come and meet other carers at the monthly Pathways for Carers Social Connect Group. To celebrate National Carers Week, we are holding a special art activity, Painting Cards with Cherie. Spend time outdoors with a gentle stroll followed by a complimentary morning tea and then explore your creative talents.

Cheri Ceberano will bring out your inner creativity and teach flower painting on cards. Paint a card for a loved one or give it to someone in need.
