ASPIRE: An online marketplace for the circular economy

The ASPIRE marketplace is an online marketplace that connects businesses wanting to buy, sell or trade unwanted materials and products to reduce their waste disposal costs and earn money from unwanted goods.

The ASPIRE program (Advisory System for Process Innovation and Resource Exchange) was developed by CSIRO and Data61 in response to a need from Australian businesses and their local councils who were seeking a solution to their ever-growing waste disposal costs.

The platform allows unlimited resource listing and unlimited technical support, helping you to recycle and reuse business materials that traditionally would be sent to landfill.

A wide range of resources can be traded for reuse, recycling or disposal, including:

• Organics like soil, plants, and grass.
• Paper and cardboard.
• Ferrous and non-ferrous metals.
• Plastics and glass, including bottles and glassware.
• Textiles such as fabrics and garments.
• Chemicals and liquids, including oils, solvents, and fuels.
• E-waste (electronic waste) for proper recycling and disposal.
• Construction and demolition materials like concrete, bricks, and rubble.
• Furniture items.
• Automotive tools and parts.
• Wood and timber materials.

Who is eligible?

To be eligible, your business must be in Glen Eira (or a participating Council).

Is there a cost to join?

Glen Eira City Council has partnered with ASPIRE to offer local businesses with less than 20 employees’ a free membership.

Businesses with more than 20 employees in the City of Glen Eira can also access the platform for a reduced fee.

The relevant discount will automatically be applied to your account during the registration process once you list the size of your business and your address within the City of Glen Eira.
