Clean Up Australia Day

Clean Up Australia Day is a nationwide initiative that brings communities together to remove litter from local parks, waterways, streets, and public spaces.  

Get involved — every action counts. You can join a local clean-up or organise your own with friends, neighbours, your school, or community group.  

Removing litter — especially small items like cigarette butts and plastic wrappers — helps stop pollution from reaching Elster Creek, Port Phillip Bay, and local habitats.  

By working together, we create safer, cleaner, and more welcoming spaces for everyone in Glen Eira.

Host your own clean up 

You can also organise your own clean up with friends, neighbours, your school or community group.  

If you’re thinking of hosting an event, consider targeting known litter hotspots such as:  

• Glen Huntly train station and surrounds 

• Bentleigh train station and surrounds 

• Glen Huntly Road, from Elsternwick Station to Hawthorn Road 

• Koornang Road, from Carnegie train station to Neerim Road 

• Caulfield train station and surrounds
