  • Outstanding size (girth height spread)
  • Aesthetic value
  • Curious growth habit
  • An outstanding example of the species

This mature Strawberry Tree is a prominent feature of St Mary’s Anglican Church (circa 1871) grounds, likely one of the earliest plantings and a particularly large and old example of the species. The tree is estimated to be over 100 years old, with a significant canopy spread.

The tree has an unusual and curious form providing a high level of visual interest, with twin trunks growing from the same root plate, effectively giving the impression of 2 separate trees. This has resulted in a particularly impressive trunk girth at the base of the tree of over 6m.

The tree makes a major contribution to the local landscape and neighbourhood character, providing amenity to the community, and is an outstanding example of the species at the regional level.
